Earlier this summer, Colourpop introduced the newest addition to their extensive collection of lip products, the Ultra Glossy Lips. The glosses come in three different finishes; sheer, creme, and metallic (different from the ultra metallic lips) and a wide assortment of colors. I haven't worn a lip gloss since probably my freshmen year of high school because once I went matte, I haven't looked back, but I was eager to try them out. To test drive the glosses, I opted for 3 colors in the creme finish and 1 of the metallic because I prefer full coverage and high color payoff.
First up is Tokyo Tea
Tokyo Tea is a bright coral gloss that is perfect for summer. It really pops on the lips and makes them the star of the face. A neutral eye and a dash of highlight is all you'll need to complete your summer glow with this glossy lip.
Next up is Master Plan
Master Plan is a really pretty mauve hue with great pigmentation. The color from the bottle is what ends up on your lips. With that said, the color is not overwhelming and is actually quite soft, making it extremely versatile. I feel like this color would look great paired with a simple or dramatic look throughout the year.
The final creme finish is Honey B
I knew when I saw the swatch of Honey B on the Colourpop snapchat that I had to have it. I'm a sucker for anything that comes in this beautiful jewel tone magenta hue, and lip gloss is no exception. Like Master Plan, I think this color can be worn year round, however because it is such a strong color, I think it looks best when paired with a simpler make up look.
Lastly for the metallic finish, I chose Cheat Code
This was another swatch that when I saw it, it was love at first sight. The Ultra Glossy Lips in the metallic finish are really different from the Ultra Metallic Lips because of their intense shine. I felt like I was applying liquid copper to my lips when applying Cheat Code. As intense as this color is, it is surprisingly wearable and is so stunning. I think it is the perfect hue for fall and is sure to turn heads. My makeup advice for wearing this color is to keep the rest of your look super simple and neutral and Cheat Code shine.
Overall, my experience with these glosses has been really positive. They provide good coverage and color payoff and I'd be curious to try some of the other hues. The one drawback is since they are glosses, they transfer easily and will definitely have to be reapplied throughout the day. I would say know where you're going before you decide to wear them, because if you plan on doing a lot of eating and drinking, you may want to opt for a more durable product. However for $6, you really can't beat the quality and selection of the Ultra Glossy Lips.
